Oh boy! Here I go critting again!
Green text.
They are to be fed carbon-rich standard rations 2 times a day, and have 2 operational water dispensers in their containment site at all times. How is there water for them if their cells are kept at −57 °C?
An RPC-410-1 instance contained at Site-017 at a temporary holding cell upon following its discovery.
RPC-410 denotes an anomalous species of sapient humanoid beings under the Lepidoptera (I prefer a footnote when using nomenclature but that's a personal preference) order, which bare a strong resemblance to moths. Really strange wording here. I get what you were going for, describing human like moths, but it doesn't read well at all.
The species is covered in a thick layer of white fur which, despite its fragility, is able to keep each instance adequately warm. Adequately warm feels very non-specific and non-clinical by extension.
The arms are located close to the base of the head, and can extend up to 1 meter in front of the body.
RPC-410 instances' heads are able to rotate their heads at 170°, similar to that of species under the Strigiformes order.
The species is incapable of flight, despite their possessing wings, which measure 1 meter long on average.
The interior of RPC-410's throat, mouth, stomach, and lungs are coated with an a type of anomalous, flexible chitin which is unable to be dissolved by RPC-410-A.
RPC-410-1 refers to a collection of 5 anomalous mechanized diving suits, initially utilized by RPC-410 instances. Personal preference again, but using anomalous as a descriptive word multiple times comes off as unnecessary.
These rings are composed (repeat use of the word composed, consider a synonym like formed or cast) of an unknown material with a hardness of 6.7. Mohs scale of mineral hardness is more of a field test. In a lab setting a Vickers hardness test is more applicable. Check here for reference. Either way, make sure to say which scale you are using.
Each RPC-410-1 instance weighs approx. 12 pounds.
A hood will automatically cover the RPC-410 instance's head, and is able to rotate with it.
Five holes are carved on the front and sides of each RPC-410-1 instance's hood, which are decorated to resemble human eyes with irides colored various shades of green and cyan.
RPC-410-2 is now in a state of disrepair (see Discovery), but its initial primary structure remains intact.
12 multi-jointed arachnoid legs protrude from the bottom of RPC-410-2, which are made primarily of steel and lead beams. Personal preference, don't start a sentence with a number.
All 380 RPC-410 instances were discovered on June 23, 2019, when a massive sheet of ice collapsed, leading to the discovery of AR-17.
So far my biggest complaint is the clunky wording throughout the piece. I like the idea, I like some of the visuals you lay out, but some whole paragraphs just have no flow. I trust you'll be able to fix this.
All crit is subjective! Cool idea and I can't wait to see it on the main-list.
Due to computer issues this crit is most likely incomplete. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
