I'm curious about the career progression track. The article seems to imply that ASF uses a single track progression system, instead of the usual enlisted/officer double tracks system.
While I understand the obvious advantage in creating an very experienced officer corps (of course you won't trust an academy fresh-grad butterbar to handle a world eating abomination), wouldn't it just take too long to cultivate an officer? I doubt that a global-spanning force like the ASF requires so few officers.
I can already see in-universe banters saying "SgM is a 'pet the shoulder' rank for NCO not bright enough to become officer."
Does the ASF get officers from other channels? Or…do I just misread the whole thing?
Edit: I misspelled ASF into APS. Corrected.
