Registered Phenomena Code: 181

Object Class: Alpha-Yellow

Hazard Types: Transmutation Hazard, Contact Hazard

Containment Protocols: Instances of RPC-181 are to be contained in a low-security, temperature regulated section of Site-004's Low Containment Sector. In the event of temperature regulation system failure, a detection system will alert on-site personnel to the incident, and a crew will be dispatched to repair the system as soon as possible.

If an instance's seal has burst or is otherwise breached in any way, personnel in hazardous material gear are to approach and sanitize the area around the instance before collecting it. The instance is then to be disposed of in the nearest functional incinerator.

Organizations that receive shipments of RPC-181 are to be sent a recall order by an Authority surrogate. If the nature of the recall is questioned, an alibi regarding microbial contamination is to be given. Reports and rumors relating to RPC-181 are to be tracked to the source, and responsible parties will be given targeted memory treatment.

Description: RPC-181 resembles a standard can of soup save for its central logo, being that of the Amazing! Co. GoI. Instances of RPC-181 may be presented in a variety of colors and sizes, but "Amazing! Soup Extender!" will always be printed in an easily visible manner, providing an easy method of identification. Cans of RPC-181 contain a cyan fluid with a consistency similar to tomato soup, which has no perceptible smell or taste. Instances have no expiration date, and will not spoil unless the seal of the can is breached.

Instructions on each instance instruct one to pour directly into a container of a meal before heating the mixture to a temperature of "40°T" or greater, found to be approximately 74°C. It advises to use a container that is not filled to avoid spillage of the contents, afterward allowing the contents to mix with the meal for at least thirty seconds.

There are several warnings present across each instance's labeling.

When an instance's contents are exposed to a semi-liquid or liquid foodstuff at the specified temperature, it will shift in appearance, flavor, and consistency to mimic the surrounding foodstuff. The reaction is exothermic, commonly resulting in the mixture reaching a boiling temperature after twenty seconds. The instance's properties are rendered inert at this stage, and will not cause complications upon consumption.

When applied to live organisms, the unaltered contents of an instance will cause cancerous, irregular growths to appear on the affected surface. They will contain an assortment of structures typically found in the affected individual (calcium formations resembling teeth, layered tissues filled with various fluids, underdeveloped sensory organs, etc.) though at a smaller size. These growths will not be connected to the organism's central circulatory system or equivalent and will become necrotic if not removed. The growths are only connected to the surface layer of tissue; however, and surgical procedures are often required for removal.

If the contents of an instance are exposed to ambient microorganism populations, said colonies will be duplicated at a rapid rate, typically over the course of forty minutes. This can generate mutations in the population of affected microbes, possibly creating sub-strains that are infectious or more virulent. Most commonly, fungi are generated. In ██ cases, previously undiscovered species of microbes have been found via this effect.

A series of tests have been performed in order to discern various properties of this RPC.

Addendum-181-01: Experiments will continue at a later date, once processing of obtained information is complete.

Addendum-181-02: As of 03/14/████, there are ██████ instances in containment. Shipments to places of business and donations to charity organizations are the most common method of introduction to the public. RPC-181 is typically sold at a price equivalent to half that of the least expensive canned soup item in the store, which appears to encourage purchasing of instances.
