Containment Protocols: RPC-348 is to be kept in a mechanical forge within site-[REDACTED] in a 3x3x3 meter room. The internal temperature of the forge must consistently remain within the threshold of 1320°C-1340°C. Heat sensors must be placed along the floor of the room. Both the forge and the heat sensors must be connected to two backup generators in case of a power surge. A specialist in seismology must remain on site at all times, and said seismologist will be granted any equipment requested (within reason). If any of prior containment protocols are not met, earthquake warnings are to be given to every population center within 300 km radius until containment protocols are restored. Testing is allowed with permission from a regional director. Testing is hereby prohibited until further notice following Incident log RPC-348-C. The data from experimentation cannot outway the risk presented by RPC-348 leaving the temperature threshold.

Description: RPC-348 is a steel longsword with a molten blade, ranging from 1.2 to 1.4 meters in length depending on how the blade is held and what the current temperature of the blade is at the time of measurement. The hilt consists of a black leather-like substance with “Fatum Respondit Non1 inscribed on the hilt. RPC-348 will not emit any sort of anomalous effects until outside of temperature threshold (1300°C-1350°C).

RPC-348 was obtained on ██/██/19██ when the epicenter of ten major earthquakes originated from [REDACTED], Tibet. Authority seismologist Peter ███████ requested an expedition to the region. The expedition was held off until the twelfth earthquake, after which an ASF unit was sent. Following the request of a small, mobile forge, RPC-348 was successfully contained.

The reason for RPC-348 being located in Tibet despite the Latin carved on the hilt is still unknown.

RPC-348 has three different states; Stabilized, Cooled, and Heated.

When RPC-348’s blade is within the temperature threshold it will exert unnoticeable to moderate seismic waves, causing occasional mild earthquakes at worst. This is the preferred state of RPC-348.

When RPC-348 reaches a temperature exceeding the threshold, the blade will begin to slowly drip molten steel (RPC-348-1). RPC-348-1 mimics the effects of RPC-348, albeit to a lesser degree. These drops can be contained in the same parameters that RPC-348 is kept.

The creation of RPC-348-1 does not reduce the mass of RPC-348, despite the laws of physics. Because of this, RPC-348 has been labeled as a Regenerative Hazard.

When RPC-348 falls below the temperature threshold, it begins to vibrate. Vibration increases exponentially with each degree below the threshold. Prior to testing, it was assumed that the vibrations put off by RPC-348 caused the seismic activity, but after test RPC-348-A, it is confirmed that this is not the case. The vicinity of RPC-348 to the earth has no effect or negation to the seismic activity it can produce. Attempts to subdue RPC-348 in liquid or magnetic fields have been fruitless.
